The mission of the University of Washington Botanic Gardens is to sustain managed to natural ecosystems and the human spirit through plant research, display and education. The Center for Urban Horticulture, a part of the UWBG, consists of a 74-acre Union Bay Natural Area and a 16-acre site that houses the gardens and buildings. Trails throughout the site allow easy access to the UW Farm, Yesler Swamp, and the Union Bay Natural Area. Learn more at botanicgardens.uw.edu.
The Washington Park Arboretum, also a part of the UWBG, is a 230-acre park with an assortment of plants and several trails. The aerial stills below feature the Joseph A. The UW Farm at Mercer Court is a model of urban farming and student housing in the West Campus neighborhood of the University of Washington. The farm at the UW Center for Urban Horticulture is a 1.5 acre student-powered urban farm and educational facility located on the University of Washington’s Seattle Campus.
