Otis Douglas Hyde Herbarium of the University of Washington

An herbarium is a repository for preserved plant specimens and provides a highly valued resource for students, researchers and the general public. Opened in 1985, the herbarium at the Center for Urban Horticulture in Seattle specializes in protecting plants of horticultural interest. Its collection comprises over 24,000 specimens, including plants from many of Puget Sound’s most significant public gardens, preserving the history of horticulture in the Puget Sound and Pacific Northwest.
