Lake Wilderness Arboretum

Lake Wilderness Arboretum is a 42-acre sanctuary that inspires, educates, and connects its community to nature. Located next to Lake Wilderness Park in Maple Valley, the Arboretum features five gardens that display one of the world’s largest displays of Rhododendron occidentale (Western Deciduous Azalea), a diverse collection of Japanese maples, along with many plants that thrive in our Pacific Northwest climate. The Arboretum also includes an ethnobotanical trail, a 26-acre forest with hiking trails, and the Children’s Discovery Forest. Started as the dream of a dedicated group of volunteers in 1965 to the horticultural treasure of today, the Arboretum is a place to enjoy year-round. Open every day from dawn to dusk with free admission and free parking.
